Reticularia lycoperdo seems to be very prolific on log-ends and tree trunks this month.

These are the winged seed heads (called samaras) from the blossom of the Wych Elm tree with the seeds in the centre. When dispersed by the wind these need to germinate within a week if not eaten first by rodents and birds.

To give a sense of scale all the lichen photographs noted specifically as close up use the scale of the photographed scale bar below which is in millimetres i.e. 1mm to 3mm..
