In the UK, Pendulous Sedge is locally common in England and Wales and can be found in wet, ancient woodland and riversides where it prefers heavy clay soils. The male flowers (topmost) when gentle touched release hundreds of fine yellow spores. The female flowers are located below the male flowers.
