Butterflies
The Red Admiral Butterfly is a migrant species which travels from Southern Europe reaching the UK in spring time. In Autumn there is a return migration southwards.
Spiders
One of the ORB spiders very common throughout the UK. This one was located in woodland on some bramble bushes. The Radial web has a centre opening and the spider is located just below this hanging upside down waiting for prey to land on the web. Adults usually found August to October. The Orb Weaver Spider family is a very large one and includes over 2800 species in over 160 genera worldwide, making it the third largest family of spiders.
Lichen
Lichen are only recorded at each new OS Grid location (hover for Grid Ref). They are then entered on the British Lichen Society spreadsheet and submitted for their Warwickshire VC38 Lichen database and Lichen mapping.

Fungi
Honey fungi (Armillaria) are a very destructive fungi and are the dread of arboricultiralists. It occurs on dead and living trees. The fungus for which there is no cure is responsible for large losses of trees each year attacking and killing living trees.
